Brisbane Queensland Cultural Centre

If you're after some Brisbane culture then why not visit the Cultural Centre at South Bank? On a lovely setting along the Brisbane River, the Queensland Art Gallery features a large collection of contemporary and traditional art, also showing regular temporary exhibits. Works from local artists in Australia and overseas are on show, and the large Gallery of Modern Art is amazing.

Take in some history at the Queensland Museum, situated behind the Art Gallery. Large collections and exhibits concerning history, dinosaurs, planes of old explorers and overseas war relics and artefacts from Germany are on show here. Many other visiting exhibitions are on display throughout the year.

The State Library of Brisbane is a great place for some peace and quiet, with a large collection of international newspapers and many other publications and interesting reading material.

See a musical, concert or play at the Brisbane Performing Arts Complex, Queensland's leading theatre venue. Qld Ballet, Theatre Company, Qld Orchestra and Opera Qld perform regular shows at the four main venues in the complex. You can watch a live performance at the Lyric Theatre, Playhouse, Cremorne Theatre or the Concert Hall, all located on the Brisbane River at South Bank.

For a bite to eat before or after the show, the Lyrebird Restaurant at the Lyric, nearby Little Stanley Street and South Bank have great restaurants and cafes. The CityCat has regular drops offs at the complex or you can walk across the Victoria Bridge from the Queen Street Mall or catch a bus or train from the city centre.
